Changes

Hmm. So many changes since I last posted. Funny what a difference a few days can make. Due to the constraints of time, let's just hit the biggies:

I have deleted my "thrill blog"

Because I don't need or want it anymore.

I am now 24.

And I now am in possession of a lovely set of pearls,

And a skanky top my mom gave me.

I have been pinned-

I have been honored by my nursing faculty as one who has learned the art and science of caring.

I have taken the nursing pledge.

And now only boards stand between

Grace Kirk

and

Grace Kirk RN.

I have decided to move to "the Burg."

As in Harrisburg.

Pennsylvania.

And I do that in less than 2 months.

And I am in love.

Mother's Day

It seems so odd for me to celebrate Mother's Day. Even though I love being a mom and it has, by far, been the most defining thing about me and has taught me most about myself, it still feels strange that I get cards and gifts for Mother's Day.

Yesterday I celebrated my third Mother's Day (not counting the Mother's Day where I announced that I was pregnant.) As I sat with my parents, siblings, and daughter, it struck me that so much of the celebration was about my mom, not me. And that's okay, because I want to celebrate her, but it is also strange. Because I think that part of why I am not celebrated as a mother by my own family is because they very much consider Abigail theirs; she belongs to all of us because she is a part of all of us and because she has become who she is from all of us. In a way, I feel like she is a group child, not mine.

On the other hand, I was the only one who got a gift from her yesterday. And boy, what a gift it was... I truly have never seen anything like it!

Buster

Abigail was recently out gardening with my aunt Carol in the backyard. A few days later she went out to "help" again. The next day my aunt told me that Abigail has a new word for weeds. You see, when my aunt weeds her garden, she talks to the plants, encouraging the flowers and threatening the weeds. "Oh, your a tough one, Buster! But I am going to get you!" When Abigail went out to help the second time, she immediately asked if there were any "busters" to pull today.

Happy

This makes me happy. (Turn up the sound!) (Also, Todd, take some lessons from this if you must.)

This also makes me happy: I got the B.

Behold the fruit of my loins...

I was asked earlier today if Abigail actually says the things that I post in this blog. The anwser is, unequivocally, yes. If they seem a bit strange, silly, or far-fetched, please take these pictures into consideration. Anyone who would dress this way would probably say the majority of the things she does...

Student No More

Tomorrow is the day.

One way or another, I will be saying goodbye to my career as a student nurse.

And when I say "one way or another" I mean "either with a B or a C,"

because I only need to get one question right for the C and 81 right for the B.

I feel good.

And a little sad.

And very reminiscent.

Momma, I'm full of words!

"Momma, can I put some imaginary on this one?"

"Some imaginary what?"

"Yes!"

"Momma, if God was dead and then he came alive again, I am going to ask God to make Dory alive again!"

On this fine day...

Today is the first day of May. And May is the month where lots of things are happening to me. Just in case you lost count:

9 days til I take my final

13 days until Mother's Day

17 days until Todd arrives

18 days until my 24th birthday

19 days until I get pinned

And basically, it's all downhill from there. Oh well, enjoy it while it lasts, right?


Oh yeah, and I bought a laptop.
