The Thrill of the Chase

I have a fly in my house. I know, it's only March, and I have a fly. And it's been here for almost a week. How did that happen?

Anyway, Lily is hunting it. While she stands on my legs and forearms between my body and my laptop screen. I am surprised I don't have more typos.

Ella saw her first bug around the beginning of February. It looked very similar to a boxelder bug--EW! It was on the ceiling and she whined and cried about it for almost two hours while pawing at the air and jumping up and down. I finally squashed it and threw it away. I hate squashing bugs but her cry was even worse--I now have a glimpse into what it is like to listen to your own child cry themselves to sleep. It rips your heart out.

Don't let them eat bugs. Especially flies. It's bad for them. Someone told me they can get heart worms that way. There's no way to detect heart worms except postmortem.

Um, ew, gross! Heartworms are nasty. She didn't catch it, so I guess that is good, right?

Our place seems to attract all sorts of lady bugs, box-elders (I don't know how to really spell it), flies and little critters with a LOT of legs. I am in battle mode. And since Charis will soon be mobile I need to actually squish and throw them away before she shoves one in her mouth. Yea.
