The Church

I asked a question on facebook, and was quite surprised at who didn't answer... but maybe it was the forum in which the question was asked? So I will ask it again, here...

What do you think the primary focus of the church should be?

(And by comparison, what do you think the primary focus of the church actually is?)

Sorry I haven't checked blogs in FOREVER!
My thoughts on this can be summed up in The Great Commission that Christ gave to His believers - Matthew 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Major points of this being:
1. Evangelism - "GO... all nations" and tell others about the gospel
2. Encourage Growth / Sanctification - "Make Disciples...teaching them to observe all I command." The church is place to grow in your knowledge and put your faith into practice
3. Done Through Christ - "I am with you always." Christ is the one who empowers us to do all of it and it is for Him, for His glory.

That is how I would sum it up!
